My name is Ker Yang, and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT CA 108818 / NV 4448-R) based in California. I identify as a heterosexual Asian-American/Hmong-American woman and hold a deep connection to spirituality.
It all started when I found myself in an unhealthy relationship and I was desperate for help. That desperation sparked a journey that led me to pursue my graduate studies in 2014 at Alliant International University. At the time, I hoped it would help me fix the relationship but instead, I came to a painful yet powerful truth: some relationships can’t be repaired.
One belief I live by is this: Choose what brings you joy, and let go of what brings you pain. That simple truth has guided me in both my personal healing and professional path. Taking care of my emotional health has played a big part in this process. It’s helped me realize what I truly want and deserve. And now, I’m here, honored and excited, to support you on yours.
I’m trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples (EFCT) and individuals (EFIT), approaches rooted in attachment science and human connection. From 2016 to 2019, I worked at Pathways under the STAY Process program in Orange County, supporting transitional-aged youth (ages 16–26) navigating severe mental health challenges. During that time, I also facilitated a trauma group and gained experience in crisis intervention as a 5150-certified clinician.
I currently work with adult clients (21 and older) who are navigating challenges such as depression, anxiety, repeated unhealthy relationship patterns, low self-esteem, and unresolved trauma whether emotional, physical, or sexual. Many of my clients come to me during times of transition, such as a breakup, divorce, or identity crisis. Others struggle with impostor syndrome, overwhelming guilt or shame, intimacy issues (especially with men), or feeling like their emotions are "too much."
I also honor and integrate spirituality and faith when it’s meaningful to you. Together, we’ll work to overcome your current challenges and help you move toward a life that feels aligned, empowered, and whole.
I believe that the intimacy shared between two people in a committed union is one of the most powerful expressions of love. That belief has inspired and shaped my dedication to working with couples. I specialize in couples counseling, particularly with partners who are struggling to reconnect emotionally.
My goal is to help couples build a more secure, fulfilling bond. In our work together, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where each partner can communicate more openly, express vulnerability, and ask for their needs to be met, often for the first time.
I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, having completed both the EFT Externship and Core Skills Training. I’ve also participated in individual and group EFT supervision to deepen my practice. Additionally, I have specialized training in sex therapy to support couples in navigating both emotional and physical aspects of intimacy.
I earned my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in August 2016 from Alliant International University in Sacramento, CA.
